Course supervisor: Ing. Juraj Štefanovič, PhD.
Supervising department: Institute of Applied Informatics (UAI FIIT)
Course objective: The goal of this course is study and practical experimentation with selected methods and algorithms for modeling and simulation. Main topic is discrete dynamic modeling and simulation for information technologies. The second topic is modeling and simulation of complex systems. Course homepage in 2013 http://www.fiit.stuba.sk/~stefanovic/info/mas/index.html
Key words: dynamic modeling and simulation, discrete modeling and simulation, formal tools for modeling and simulation, model verification and validation, prediction, optimisation
Form of teaching: lecture, laboratory/construction practice
Course methods: Every week during the semester 2 hours of practices, where 2 individual tasks are implemented and experimented. The first task has obligatory topic and the second task is optional. During the semester a lecture 3 hours long is presented every week, in slovak language, not mandatory. A written examination with short tasks and questions takes place after the semester.
Time allowance (lecture/seminar): 3/2
Course completion: During practices, two tasks of maximum 2×30 points evaluation must be elaborated. Tasks must be completed by given deadlines, otherwise a penalty -5 points per every next week is applied. Practices are successful by minimal 20 collected points. Written examination after the semester is evaluated by maximum 40 points. The sum is up to 2×30+40=100 points and the final evaluation is A,B,C,D,E depending on the official table. Minimal success 56 points to get E.
Mode of completion and credits: Exam (6 credits)
Type of study: usual
Taught for the form of: full-time, attendance method
Prerequisites for registration: none
Regular assessment: During practices, two tasks of maximal 2×30 points evaluation must be elaborated. Tasks must be completed by given deadlines, otherwise a penalty -5 points per every next week is applied. Practices are successful by minimal 20 collected points.
Final assessment: Written examination after the semester is evaluated maximum 40 points. The sum is up to 2×30+40=100 points and the final evaluation is A,B,C,D,E depending on the official table. Minimal success 56 points to get E.
